2024 - 2025 Sports Reports 

On Monday 9th June, 6 of our Year 6 children attended a dance workshop at The Weald. The children showed great energy and enthusiasm for dance and demonstrated incredible teamwork skills. Great work team! 

Tri Golf

On Wednesday 14th May, we took a group of 7 children to The Weald for a Tri Golf festival. The children learnt how to swing the club for an accurate shot. All of the children  worked incredibly hard, supporting one another and encouraging those who were less confident.  Well done team!

KS1 Multi Skills

On Wednesday 7th May we took all of the Year 1 children to The Weald to take part in a Multi Skills event.  The children really enjoyed the afternoon, they listened well to the instructions given for each activity and performed them with great enthusiasm. The tunnel activity was a the children’s favourite, as they got to race one another.

Gymnastics 

On Monday 17th March, we took 7 year 4 and 5 girls to The Weald to take part in a locality Gymnastics competition. I was blown away by their enthusiasm towards this event. They all competed incredibly well, showing off their floor and vault skills. It was commented by the organisers that our team showed such great team work and really supported each other whilst completing their individual routines. Well done Girls, another great success! 

KS1 Multi Skills Festival

On Wednesday 20th November, we took a group of Year 1 children to The Weald secondary school to take part in a Multi Skills Festival with other local schools. The children enjoys an array of different sporting activities across the afternoon, demonstrating their sporting skills in each.

Cross Country 

On Wednesday 6th November, we took a group of children to compete in The Weald Cross Country event against other local primary schools. The children showed real determination , supporting each other as they ran. Arlo came 5th in the Year 3/4 boys race, Fynn came 6th in the Year 6 boys race and Kim came 10th in the Year 5 girls race! Well done for everyone for taking part in such a brilliant event!

Girls Basketball

On Tuesday 21st October, we sent a team of 7 girls to take part in a girls basketball festival at Collyers Sixth Form College. The girls showed great sportsman ship, and worked amazingly well as a team.

2023 - 2024 Sports Reports

Sports Week 2024 

 

Our annual sports week took place during the week commencing 24th June 2024. During the week, the children had an opportunity to take part in different sporting workshops, including -

- Football with North Horsham Soccer Academy

- Cricket with Horsham School Sports 

- Tennis at Slinfold Tennis Club

- Rugby Tots

- Dodgeball with Academy Stars Coaching 

- Footgolf at Rookwood Gold Course 

- Netball with Mrs Harvey 

- Zumba with Mrs Barter

In addition to this, we had Olympic Gymnast Danusia Francis Join us on the final day!

Sports Day 2024 

On Wednesday 26th June, we held our annual sports day at Slinfold Cricket Club. Even though it was extremely warm, the children competed in each event with enthusiasm and showed great sportsman ship to their fellow team mates! It was great to see so many parents, grandparents and extended families coming out to join us for this fantastic event. 

On Wednesday 5th June, we took 12 children to the Horsham Locality Stoolball Tournament. As this is not a sport we play often, they children showed great resilience and determination  during each game and scored many runs. They showed great enthusiasm and worked incredibly well as a team. Another great sporting success! 

On Tuesday 21st May, 12 children went to Billingshurst swimming pool for a locality swimming gala. 4 children took part in individual races  and 8 took part in relays. All of the children swam incredibly well, with some winning their races. As a team, Slinfold came 3rd! What an amazing achievement. Well done Team Slinfold! 

Our football team at Slinfold welcomed Shelley School for a local fixture as part of the Horsham Schools Football League. The match was hotly contested from beginning to end with some great interplay from both teams. The match ended 4 – 2 with goals from George (2), Mason (1) and Fynn (1). The team was captained by Theo who showed great resilience after a hefty tackle to lead his team on to victory. Archie was a strength in defence and used a cool head to clear many probing runs from the opposition. A great game and every player should be hugely proud of themselves!

Our super swimmers had a great time at the swimming gala. They all gave it their best and had a wonderful experience. The competition was tough and it was great to see the resilience and courage of our team. A great well done!

On Tuesday 26th March, a group of our Year 5 and 6 children attended Horsham Rugby Club to take part in a tag rugby tournament. They had an opportunity to play against other locality schools and showed great resilience and perseverance during what were some very tough games. 

On Tuesday 12th March a group of our Year 3 and 4 children attended a tennis festival. They had an opportunity to practise their tennis skills and play matches against other competitors. The children thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity and showed great sportsmanship throughout the festival. 

Southwater Vs Slinfold 6 th March 2024

With the 1st half underway Southwater had kicked off and managed to slip past the defenders and beat the keeper with a shot to the left to make it 1 - 0. The stern Slinfold defence held on to the second half weathering shot after shot. In the second half Slinfold sadly made mistake after mistake resulting in another score for Southwater. Determined, Slinfold fought back making the score 2-1. Southwater’s attack came again from the left winger, the keeper managed to the initial save but the rebound from the post was tapped in making it 3-1. Southwater then went into 6th gear and goal after goal went by. There was not much hope for Slinfold but they went again and managed to score one more before the end. The final score was 7-2. A huge well done to both teams and especially well done to Slinfold for showing courage and resilience

On Wednesday 17th January, 11 of the Year 6 children went to The Weald School for a Tag Rugby tournament. We started off the session with some drills and then we got to play some matches. They were really fun and we improved our skills throughout. Although we were covered in mud, it was so worth it, we had such a great time!

Netball fixture against Pennthorpe School

On Monday 15th January, some of our Year 6 netball team took part in a netball match against Pennthorpe School. In the first quarter, the team showed great sportsmanship and we were winning 5 - 0. Our lucky strike continued into the second quarter where we gained a further 5 goals, ending the match on a 10-0 win to us. 

For the second half of the game, we mixed the teams up, which gave us all a chance to play with some other team members. It was a really fun match and we look forward to returning to play them again.

On Monday 22nd January, we hosted a football match against Greenway, as part of the Horsham School's Football league. The team played an incredible match and we were leading in the first half 4-2. The second half proved a harder match, with the game ending in a 8 - 4 defeat. The team all showed incredible resilience, perseverance and our school values of respect, compassion, courage and responsibility. 

Horsham Schools Football League 

On Friday 24th November, Slinfold hosted Nuthurst for their second match of the Horsham School's Football league. The game was a tough match, with George and Carter scoring some brilliant goals. The games ended in a 5 - 3 win for Slinfold. 

Girls Tag Rugby 

On Thursday 23rd November, 10 of our Year 5 and 6 children attended a Girls Tag Rugby event held at Millais School. The girls played 3 games, 2 of which they won. All of the girls showed great sportsmanship and displayed our school values throughout. 

KS1 Multi Skills 

On Wednesday 22nd November, the Year 2 children had the chance to visit The Weald for a Multi-Skills event. They took part in different activities to help develop their agility, ball control and team work. They all had a brilliant time and enjoyed the opportunity to try new things. The children showed courage to try something new and compassion by helping their friends when they found something tricky. 

Weald Locality Cross Country 

On Wednesday 8th November, 27 of our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 children went to The Weald Cross Country event. All of the children ran amazing well, considering how wet the field was! The team results were as followed - 

Year 3&4 -  7th 

Year 5 Boys -  2nd

Year 5 Girls - 3rd

Year 6 Boys - 7th 

Year 6 Girls - 5th 

On Monday 6th November, our Year 5 and 6 Football team attended Leachpool Primary to play their first match in the Horsham Schools Football League. The team played incredibly well and showed fantastic team work and sportsmanship throughout the game. Having taken an early lead, with Carter scoring the first goal, the game ended in a 4 - 1 defeat. 

 
 

2022 - 2023 - Sports Reports

Football Friendly's  

 

On Wednesday 24th May, our Year 3 and 4 and our Year 5 and 6 football teams each played a friendly match against Arunside School. Both games were played with enthusiasm, enjoyment and in the true values of the school. There were plenty of goals too! Well done to all involved, a special thanks to Mr Evershed for organising and Mr Rangecroft for refereeing.

On Monday 12th June, 4 children attended the Year 5 Dance Workshop at The Weald Secondary School. The 4 children had a fantastic time learning different dances and composing their own pieces of dance. They all performed with confidence and enthusiasm. Well done girls! 

KS1 Multi Skills 

On Wednesday 26th April, some of our KS1 children took part in a Multi-Skills event at The Weald School. The children completed a range of sporting activities throughout the afternoon and displayed impeccable behaviour. Working well as a team, all of the children showed our school values of Courage, Compassion, Respect and Responsibility. Well done Year 1! 

KS2 Football Friendly 

A fantastic time was had by all at our football friendly with Arunside. All of the children represented the school brilliantly and worked extremely well as a team. Slinfold won our first match 7-1 with goals being scored by Carter, Mason, Ewan and Fynn. The Second match was won by Arunside 5-3 with goals being scored by Carter and Tate. A wonderful time was had by all despite the rainy weather!

On 3rd March, some of our Year 3 and 4 children attended Horsham Rugby Club for a Tag Rugby Festival. Despite the cold weather, it did not dampen the children spirits. The children played extremely well in all of their matches with some children winning over 15 belts. All of the children showed determination, perseverance and great team spirit! Well done! 

Cross Country Run

On Tuesday 21st February, 12 children attended the Horsham Schools Cross Country Run held at Christ Hospital. All of the runners showed great determination and courage throughout the course and supported each other over the finish line.
